Theme Plugins
UW Theme 2.0 includes plugins to add features like custom UW blocks and the ability to create and display people directories. How you access them depends on your hosting environment.
WiscWeb users
These plugins are already available in WiscWeb, but some may need activation.
Non-WiscWeb users
You must download the UW Theme 2.0 package and install the plugins manually.
UW Blocks
The UW Blocks plugin includes custom WordPress blocks designed for UW–Madison sites. Use it to create branded, accessible layouts with features like accordions, groups of links, tabs, and more.
UW People
The UW People plugin (formerly the Faculty/Staff post type) lets you create and display directories for faculty, staff, students, or other people associated with your group. It includes custom fields and various display options for lists or individual profile pages.
UW Embed Blocks
This plugin is only necessary for WordPress multi-site networks.
The UW Embeds plugin makes it easy to embed content from UW-supported services such as Kaltura, Box, Qualtrics, RedCap, and more while maintaining accessibility and security standards.
UW Events
The UW Events plugin lets you create events that appear only on your site.
For most situations, we recommend posting events to UW’s campus-wide calendar, today.wisc.edu, instead. Events there reach a wider audience and can also be embedded on your site using the UW Today.wisc.edu block.
Documentation for how to use this plugin is not available yet. Check back for more information.
More plugins available with WiscWeb
